New Martinsville “Moondrops” style Amber Ship’s Decanter – 7 piece set

You are viewing the New Martinsville Glass Company’s “Moondrops” style Ship’s Decanter plus six “shot” glasses – a seven piece set done in rich amber. This pattern was manufactured during the 1930's. The decanter is 11" tall by 5 1/2" wide and is mold blown with polished seams. There are 10 panels reaching from the neck down to about one-third of the body of the decanter. The clear glass fan-shaped (Moondrops style) stopper is in perfect condition. The shot glasses are seamless apparently from being made in single molds. The bases have been ground to assure flatness and each one stands 2 1/4 tall by 2 1/4 wide. Each glass has eight distinct panels around the base and a smooth upper section.  The only flaw noted is the presence of several small bubbles in the base of the decanter formed during the molding process. This is an excellent example of Depression era glassware and will be perfect on display and/or in use on your back bar.

Added 1/5/2012: This decanter is actually an unidentified/unknown pattern with the typical "Moondrops" fan stopper. "It's pictured in a 1934 ad and listed as unidentified on page 164 of Measell's NMG 1900-1944 book." Quote from Elegant & Everyday Glass Forum - www.chataboutdg.com
