Antique Distillata Water Bottle Jug in Original Crate
Distillata is a family-owned and operated drinking water company that has been serving the people of Ohio with fresh bottled water since 1897. The water used in the company's bottling lines come from a naturally free flowing spring that is located in a rural area in northern Ohio.
THIS is one of their EARLY Water bottle jugs in its' original Distillata MARKED carrying crate! AND the jug has what appears to be its' Original top. I took the top off just to double-check that the opening is free of chips or cracks and it IS (free of chips or cracks) The bottle is HEAVILY embossed on the bottom with several patterns and numbers. The bottle itself is in wonderful condition. VERY clear (NOT cloudy at all). The old glass is SWIRLY & WAVY on the bottom and the jug itself as SEVERAL bubbles to the glass as indicative of age. NO chips, NO cracks.
Also note that part of the paper label is still stuck to the glass. You can remove it or leave it on. I can make out PART of the words "mineralized water".
This piece comes in its' ORIGINAL wooden Distillata protective crate. It's NOT in "perfect" codition (see the many pictures below)....but it has held together nicely for its age. One board is missing from the bottom and the wood is cracked in several places and one side has a hole in the wood (all pictured below). TWO sides of the crate are still easily readable with the name "DISTILLATA". The interior base board is also marked "CENTRAL".
Designers like to take these and turn them into decorative arrangements. They're perfect for that because you can use the top bottle opening to create many different looks.
The bottle by itself measures 19" tall, 10 1/2" wide & 34 1/2" around the belly. The crate measures 15 1/4" tall by 11 7/8"-12" wide.
