Overview
Salvias have been grown since ancient times. Our primary purpose is to enjoy the beautiful addition of color in the home garden. The salvias we grow are most commonly from Texas, the Southwest and Mexico. These are highly ornamental, heat tolerant, and have moderate to low moisture needs. We consider these plants critical components of any Hummingbird, Bee and/or Butterfly Garden.
Almost all of the plants should be grown to receive a minimum of 4 to 6 hours of sun, but tend to bloom more profusely in high shade or partial shade. All of our salvia plants have proven to be pest and disease-free, require very little maintenance in the garden, and because many have scented foliage, are considered deer-resistant.
Salvias accept multiple soils including clay, but the plants do benefit from a side-dressing of compost prior to bloom cycle.
These salvias are third season plants and have bloomed in the container. As much top-growth as possible will be retained for shipping.
Excess soil will be removed prior to shipping. Roots will be wrapped in dampened materials and encased in plastic for shipping. Each plant bundle is labeled with botanical and common names when applicable.
