Guaranteed Authentic c.1700-1800 Persian Bottle Vase from the late Safavid or early Qajar period.
Description
Painted in wonderfully vivid polychrome colors and decorated with two panels showing a Sultan or other important finely clad gent with a cheeky grin. On one side attired in green and on the other red. The rest of the decoration is an example of classical persian design with ornate scrolling foliage and flowers all arranged in arabesque patterns. This would have had originally a tulip lip, separately made and attached to the top about 2 inches in height (there are similar in museums everywhere) but unfortunately the two parts have taken leave of each other overt he years. At least from 1800 and most possibly earlier. This is a very fine piece and lovely to admire and hold. Whoever painted it rally enjoyed what they were doing.
Iran/Persia Ca. 1700-1800 . Serious Offers welcome.
Height: 7 1/2 in. (18.5 cm).
Formerly in a private collection here in Ireland I recently acquired it with some other antiquities from Persia, Egypt and Rome which I will also be listing in the coming weeks all of which I have had expertised with one of the worlds leading auction houses in London. |
