Annie’s new coat has a generously broad notched collar (similar to a classic Edwardian style,) a loosely fitted bodice with bust darts and a 3-button closure, long sleeves with roll up cuffs and a slightly raised waistline followed by a simply glorious skirt. Pleats fall down from the bodice and come together in a ‘ballooned’ form above the hem. The hemline itself ebbs and flows around the figure, creating an uneven, scalloped type of effect, with the shortest points at the side of each hip.
Made up in an understated linen/cotton fabric that’s soft and earthy and has the right weight and substance to enhance the design. Colors are warm and subdued.
This new coat/jacket mixes elements of classic design with the very latest fashion trends (think of the best period costumes from the Jane Austen classics…. and the latest ‘runway’ lagenlook styles.)
