RCA Victor 8-5-CE clock AM tube radio 50's white/gold

Item Description:

Very cool 50's vintage RCA Victor model 8-C-5E clock radio in white with gold trim. This unit has a smooth turning second hand (not the jerky ticking of cheap modern quartz units), and vacuum tube AM radio with alarm function. Current time and alarm set fine, clock operates, and the radio tuned in to various local AM stations. Cosmetically this clock radio is pretty good for its age, flaws limited to a few scratches on the top of the casing, and a small area of the dial cover where wood glue dripped onto it, as well as a small area on the bottom of the dial surround where the gold paint has rubbed away. Operationally, the clock is fully functional, but could use some TLC. The clock motor is a bit noisy, and there is a lound low frequency hum that comes on with the radio. Vacuum tubes look to be all original RCA tubes with the exception of one General Electric tube that was probably a replacement.
