A Stanley tongue and groove match plane number 148. Made of all iron which is nickel plated. Tool is oiled to retard rust, thus looks dirty. Also known as come and go plane. Complete with 2 cutting blades. Textured within double handle grips. Produced between 1905 and 1958. Blade width is 1/4 inch. Tool weighs 3 pounds and measures 9L x 6H x 2W inches. Thus 9 inches long with cutters for a 1/4 inch tongue and matching groove. Used on boards between 3/4 to 1 inch thick. Marked 7/8" on handle, indicating a cut centred on 7/8" and No. 148 on the other handle. The opposite side is embossed with Stanley logo and Pat'd Jan 20-03. The upper surface has embossed oval type designs.These yield from approximately 1948.
