This necklace was made a showpiece for the annual fair here in San Diego...it it large, gem-encrusted and not for the faint of heart! A fabulous hand-shaped peacock has been formed from various gauges of fine silver wire and meticulous wrapped together. The bird has been filled in with a plethora of varied gemstones: at his head are BLACK DIAMOND chips in his beak, BLACK SPINEL and MOONSTONE around his eye and his neck stretches out, populated with rich blue LONDON BLUE TOPAZ. At the crest of his head and the top of his proud chest are blue, opaque SAPPHIRES. His body transitions from the blue of the topaz to APATITE and bright green PERIDOT and the brown of SMOKY QUARTZ.
The hammered tail feathers feature outer rings of EMERALDS, and inner rings of SAPPHIRE, LONDON BLUE TOPAZ, CITRINE, and ANDALUSITE.
The bird measures an impressive 7" from head to tail and 3" at his widest. The 4" his body stretches across the neck are completed with a sterling chain, also adorned with London blue topaz, measuring 18" long with an extension chain to be adjustable up to 21". The necklace closes with a sterling lobster clasp.
This piece was days of work, carefully securing each stone into place. It is certainly a showpiece!
