My series, "Inspired By Italy," presents paintings based on photographs I took in Italy over a period of several years. Italy was my first love in Europe. The Fruitman on the Canal is the first of the series. This is a boat tethered along a canal in Venice. Everything is beautiful in Venice, including the canal-side vendors. The painting was one of a small number that marked my brief exploration of the Fauvist style. It is 36 inches high by 32 inches wide, oil on stretched canvas on heavy duty stretchers, with painted sides. A frame is not necessary. The painting is signed and dated on the back. I send a letter of provenance which increases the value of the work. All my artwork is copyrighted by Eleanor Gilpatrick. Copyright is nontransferable through the purchase of artwork.
