More about this item

The Moody Blues - A Question of Balance 1970 GATEFOLD LP, Threshold Records (London) THS-3. This 1970 release saw the Moodies simplifying the approach taken on the 1969 concept album "To Our Children's, Children's, Children", which was an album that explored the possibility of spiritual enlightenment through space travel. Notwithstanding, while "A Question of Balance" may have had both feet planted on the Earth, it was no less "cosmic". There are some great songs on this album including the dynamic opener- "Question", "And the Tide Rushes In" "Its Up to You", "Dawning is the Day", Mike Pinder's spacey and haunting "Melancholy Man", and "The Balance". The acoustic guitar and most importantly, the mellotron with string setting are used a lot on this album, which give the songs a very...well...melancholy feel. There are some lighter moments too though, as with whimsical songs like The "Tortoise and the Hare", so it is not all doom and gloom. The Moodies would continue with this formula for the next couple of albums. "A Question of Balance" is one of those albums that is still a delight to listen to today, while evoking nostalgia from back in the day.Condition of this copy on the original THRESHOLD LABEL (white with blue/black lettering) is- COVER: VG (spots of face and edge wear, visible ring wear on back cover, 1" seam splt at top of open edge on the record side of the gatefold), VINYL: VG (a few light surface marks)TRACKS: 1.
