The music heard here, recorder in Anzahar, Olukman, and Tulunk - villages situated nt he province of Sivas in south-eastern Turkey - reflects the important role music plays in the social, cultural, and religious life of such villages. The inhabitants belong to the Alevi sect, a denominationally defined ethnic group in Turkey whose way of life differs for that of orthodox Muslims in other parts of the country.
Instruments used include the Saz, Zurna, Davul, and Keman.
