Antique WWII US Navy Officers Ceremonial dress sword and leather scabbared. Sword is in great condition and elaborately decorated. The blade is engraved with U S Navy insignias on both sides. At the top of the blade is the makers logo of Warnuck Uniform Company, est. 1838, New York. The hilt handle has a dolphin formation, a fine carving or casting of acorns and leaves,and the butt end has the gold eagle. The handle has textured ivory pebbles with a fine gold chain bias wrapping. Gold plate or wash is on the metal of the handle. The sword has the black leather & gilt brass scabbard with the brass nautical rope and rings of which braided tassels were probably tied. This sword is missing the brass end plate of the leather scabbard.The over all item measures 38L x 6W inches. Blade is 30 inches long. This item weighs 2 pounds and was from the estate sale of a retired Naval officer of WWII who resided in Norwich, VT.
