and glossy genuine Turtle with very little wear on edges no rips no holes it is great.

 

TORTOISE 

Personally I do not think  any touch up is needed.  

I would rate as excellent to near mint. 

Double handles are pliable and strong beautiful style.

Both the exterior  and  interior  excellent. 

4 feet protect the bottom.

turtle handbag.

TORTOISE 

 

Unique design, art deco in style and compact design with lovely skins.

this is only the second turtle skin bag i have ever had and I have been collecting for over 20 years, so you can see how rare these are.

The detailing is superb and with a Length of 6" it is very easy to carry all today's accessories with style. the frame is also covered in the skin with  lovely handles, also in turtle.

The interior is brown leather the  photos show the correct color of the purse. Handles look great no problems the skin is all beautiful. This is a truly unique and rare bag.

Length  8" x Height 6" closed x width 3" when closed and the handles also add height separatelus handles 

 

History of Turtle handbags

Soft and leathery turtle skin comes from leatherback sea turtles, that inhabit the atlantic, indian and pacific oceans. once in abundance, leatherback turtles are now an endangered species, thus a gorgeous vintage turtle handbag is indeed a rare find and to be treasured. Glossy and pretty turtle skin is often mistaken for crocodile, as very few bags exist for comparison  in england. The turtle has distinct glossy irregular shape scales in a random pattern, where as the crocodile has an oval or rectangular tiled scales neatly arranged in a symmetrical, vertical design.

In the 60's several leading handbag design houses, including rosenfeld, saks fifth avenue and lucille de paris, specialized in the manufacture of beautiful turtle bags. they were usually made in france.
