Greet the Year of the Dragon in this gorgeous vintage Chinese silk brocade ensemble.

January 23rd is the Chinese New Year. To celebrate, Sylvan Belle is offering an eclectic selection of orient-inspired fashions, both designer and vintage. Perfect for partygoing, or just to add a little artsy and exotic flair to your wardrobe!

Isn't this the most luscious outfit - a three piece hand-tailored dress with the exotic look of the orient. Hand tailored in Hong Kong, too. Really beautiful!

Here are the details:

• Vintage label: Royal Lynne - Made in Royal Crown Colony of Hong Kong
• Size: Labeled a size 12, but smaller than that by todays standards. Probably approximately a size 6 - 8, but PLEASE compare the measurements to a well-fitting similar garment that you already own.
• 100% silk in a beautiful champagne gold.
• The fabric is a silk brocade, with a woven-in floral pattern of peonies and leaves
• Three pieces - a jacket, a shell, and a dress with a silk top
• The jacket has a round neckline. The collar and upper front edges are trimmed with a piped silk band that ends in a scroll pattern at the jacket front. The jacket closes with hidden hooks and thread loops at the front
• The jacket is open below the fabric scroll-trimmed area.
• Little side slits.
• Three-quarter length sleeves with piped bands at the hems. Please note that the sleeves are fitted, and it looks to me like the wearer would have to have slender arms. Please check the measurements.
• Fully lined with silk
• The shell has a round neckline, and the neck and armholes are edged with silk piping
• There is a bottom silk band, which is piped at both edges, and then there is a decorative scroll pattern at the side fronts, that echoes the motif on the jacket. Little slits at the side fronts.
• Buttons down the back with self-covered buttons. Beautifully bound buttonholes. Hook and eye at top.
• Fully lined in silk
• The dress has a crepe de chine silk bodice, which serves as a slip under the shell - not meant to be seen.
• Little box pleats at the side fronts
• Straight wiggle dress silhouette
• Back metal zipper with hook and eye
• Little thread loops with snaps on the inside shoulder seam, to hold your lingerie straps
• Back slit in the skirt, which is decorated with silk bands and piping, and a repeat of the scroll motif on the other two pieces.
• Skirt is fully lined with silk. The bodice is unlined.
• CONDITION
• In excellent condition with a few minor issues to note:
• ALL THREE PIECES show persperation stains on the linings.  The shell has just the slightest discoloration on the very edge of the underarm opening - very subtle and minor. The bodice of the dress has the most extensive areas of persperation stain - and this part does not show, as it is worn under the shell. The jacket looks perfect on the outside - no persperation stain showing through to the outside. I also found a couple of MINISCULE snags in the silk, almost not worth mentioning.
• In spite of the above mentioned issues, this outfit presents BEAUTIFULLY and I know you will be pleased. A dry cleaning at a reputable dry cleaners that handles vintage items would probably bring it up to pristine condition (I wish I had one I trusted around here....)
• The fabric is good and strong, with no dry rot or splitting. Perfectly wearable.

Your item will be sent FIRST CLASS MAIL INTERNATIONAL, arriving in approximately seven (7) to ten (10) days. In most cases, your item will come to you neatly wrapped in tissue, and inserted in a padded envelope, in order to keep weight to a minimum. (Bulky items will of course require a box, and therefore higher postage.) I will, at my discretion, provide insurance on more expensive items. If you have any special shipping requests, please let me know and I will do everything I can to accommodate you.
