NAWIC 1970 Region 7 Forum Paperweight ACME Brick

Memorabilia from 1970 Corpus Christi, Texas Region 7 Forum. NAWIC is The National Women In Construction organization.

ACME BRICK mini-paperweight brick with gold facismile of a plaque, commemorating the event. Paperweight was originally painted gold in color and had a green felt bottom. Paint has a dark patina and one side has a oxidation type coloration. The edges are worn though there are no chips. The felt on bottom is almost worn off. It appears to have been well used over the years.

This group of women has been described by member Alice Ashley as, "We were women with electricity in our veins, cement dust on our shoes, sawdust on our minds … busy, busy, busy, filthy things. ”Off white in color with light blue, black and brick red colored details.

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) began as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, founded on September 11, 1953 by 16 women who were looking for a support system. These women were all actively employed in the construction industry and had been doing business with each other for years when they decided to finally meet face to face.

Founders Scholarship Foundation (NFSF) was created in 1961 to award scholarships to students pursuing construction-related studies. It has now become internationally affiliated with 5 other countries.

Since its founding, NAWIC, an international non-profit organization, has grown to a membership of 5,500 women with more than 160 chapters.

Items are shipped with Bubble Wrap, Peanuts and/or Paper. Insurance is not required unless stated as such in item description. I cannot assume responsibility for lost or damaged items during shipment by carrier. If damage or loss occurs, a claim will need to be filed with the Post Office. If item is damaged, item and box must be saved for evidence. Please understand this about shipping: I live in the country and make the trip to the Post Office on Tuesdays and Fridays. I ship within 2-5 days of received payment.

RETURNS:**Items described to the best of my knowledge. If you have ANY questions, Please use "Contact" prior to buying. No refunds given to those with Buyer's Remorse. If a refund is agreed upon, purchase price only will be refunded. Buyer must contact seller within 48 hours of receipt, item must returned in original SOLD condition and must be shipped back by same method as it was delivered.
