This is a wonderful old cherry lipstick red, hard plastic celluloid ring case from the 1930s. I did not have it tested to see if it is Bakelite. It has that great Art Deco appearance with a lovely round decorative medallion on the top and straight lines running down the sides from it. It is rare to find one in this shade of red. The interior of the box underneath the ring holder pad is impressed: E.B. Mahler Co. Buffalo, N.Y. and U.S. Pat 2046133 (June 30, 1936). The underside of the box is marked: Made in USA. It measures approximately 1 7/8 inches long, 1 ½ inches wide an 1 ¼ inches tall.

It is in great vintage condition but there are a few tiny dark spots in the plastic (see enlarged photographs and arrow in picture). There are no chips or cracks. The removable ring pad does show some wear. The box opens and closes smoothly.

This would be a great addition to your collection of ring boxes. It would also be perfect to use as a gift box to give someone that vintage Art Deco engagement ring.
