This simple but elegant butterfly combination brooch/pin or pendant is in excellent condition and has a beautiful luster to it. It measures 1 3/4 inches across and 1 1/2 inches tall. The fan shaped black onyx (I believe it is Onyx, but could be another stone that is similar to Onyx) wings are mounted on a gold metal body or backing. The wings are sculpted and incised with lines to represent the veins of the wings. There are faux dark reddish coral shaped tiny balls for the eyes. There is a loop for a necklace if desired. There are no marks on this brooch. I'm not sure when it was made, perhaps 1970s or 1980s, but I'm just guessing.

This is in excellent condition with a bright and shiny gold front accent against the dark black stone. It would make a great addition to anyone's collection of Butterfly Jewelry. It would also make a wonderful gift for someone who is into the study of butterflies and moths; Lepidoptery or Lepidopterology.
