Vintage Fisher Price #2320 Magic Train Track Play Set COMPLETE w/BOX!

Vintage Fisher Price #2320 Magic Train Track Play Set Complete w/Box and nstructions; MORE PHOTOS BELOW

Here for your inspection is a RARE, Vintage Fisher Price #2320 Magic Train Track Play Set COMPLETE with its original box! Produced for only 2 years (1989--90), this play set is EXCEEDINGLY hard to find complete with all of its original parts, instructions, and box let alone in this condition (NEAR MINT-MINT)! This is a WONDERFUL play set! It's completely child-powered, no batteries necessary, and affords unlimited open-ended play opportunities.

This play set was crafted for children ages 3-7 years of age. Younger children will require assistance assembling the track into the different configurations while the older children should be able to accomplish this on their own using the pictured examples. A hand crank on top of the train station activates the "magic" track to propel the engine and its cars down the track. Specifically, if the child shifts the button on top of the engine out of neutral and rotates the crank on top of the station, the train moves forward. If the child elects to keep the engine in neutral, he/she can manually operate the train around the track. Pushing the button on top of the train station "toots" the engine's horn. The child can manipulate two barrier guards to redirect the train to other portions of the track. A set of railroad crossing gates protects one highway crossing and is triggered by the train approaching the intersection or by the child manually manipulating the trigger switch.

My son and I put this set together and examined it closely for any "imperfections" or hints to share with future owners. We found that it is important to set the track up on an even or solid surface. You'll see in my photos that we set it up on our living room carpet. It probably would have been better if we had set it up on our linoleum floors. The junctions between the track sections need to be aligned perfectly for the train to perform at its best. We also discovered that some of the black velcro connectors that connect the train cars to one another occasionally came apart while the train was in transit. This was especially true for the female, smooth velcro connectors. I am going to see if I can find some replacement black velcro to replace the old velcro and strengthen these connectors. Last, but not least, it's important that the child moves the crank is a smooth, steady fashion to maximize the train's ability to climb hills. Doing this, provides more than enough energy for the train to ascend and descend the hill. Occasionally, like all model train or car racing sets, the train will get out of alignment on the tracks and will need to be manually repositioned. If your child becomes excessively frustrated by occasional train derailments or doesn't like ratchety, clacking noises (from the center of the track moving back and forth), this probably would not be a good choice of toys for them.

Now you may be thinking, then what in heaven's name is she doing extolling this play set to others? I'm just trying to be as forthright and honest as I can be about this play set. I know many children, especially on the autistic spectrum, have an affinity for train sets. I also know some of them are hyper-sensitive to noise or can become easily frustrated. You know your child or grandchild the best. Of course, if the noise is a problem, you can shift the switch on the engine to neutral and the train track noise ceases. The child can also manually control the train's movements thereby decreasing the likelihood of any derailments.

Other fun features of this set include an elevated barrel loader with barrels, a combination tunnel/hill, an operating crane that swivels and moves bundled pipes, crates etc. into empty railroad containers, four interchangeable trailer bodies that can be mounted on the gray railroad car bases, and a utility truck for off road play. The set also comes replete with 11 pieces of gray track that can be assembled into different configurations. The pictured instructions provide numerous suggestions for possible railroad configurations. All of the railroad accessories can be packed into its "suitcase-like" box for easy transport. Unfortunately, the plastic handle that allowed a child to carry this box as a suitcase has broken apart over the years. I've included the pieces in the box but doubt it can be repaired to handle the weight of this play set.

After repeatedly scrutinizing this set, the only "imperfections" my son and I could detect were the aforementioned velcro connectors, one stress fracture on one end of the + intersection piece, and one prong missing on the end of one straight piece of track. I reinforced the stress fracture on the + intersection piece with Super Glue so it shouldn't pose any future problems. The straight piece of track with one missing prong still holds together just fine with the other pieces of track. That's it! All of the other pieces are present and accounted for and in NEAR MINT-MINT condition. A complete rendering of the contents of this set is as follows:

11 pieces of VHTF gray track, each with a moving center section that makes the train move along the track when the train station crank is turned (NEAR MINT---these pieces consist of 4 curved tracks, 1 staight section, 2 Y forks, 1 green combination hill/tunnel with a gray track on top, 1 + intersection track, 1 brown base train station with an attached curved piece of track, 1 curved piece of track with a black railroad crossing on each side;

1 RARE gray base train engine with a red boiler, green cab, black smoke stack, and 6 black wheels (MINT);

1 RARE gray base caboose with a red top (MINT);

3 RARE gray flat bed train cars (MINT);

4 RARE interchangeable trailer bodies that fit on top of the aforementioned train cars; one is green with an open top and raised sides and has a litho on the side marked "F & P"; another is a white water tank; the third is a light brown "box car" with simulated wood siding and roof; and the last is a blue bucket that can be tipped to dump cargo (all are in MINT condition);

2 RARE white Railroad Crossing Signs with a round base, the wording Railroad Crossing printed on lithos, and an attached red crossing arm that lifts and lowers (EXC++--sometimes these need to be assisted by manually triggering the switch);

2 RARE yellow signs with a red light on two sides and a green light on two sides (MINT-- these help signal when a track is "open" or "closed");

2 RARE yellow and black barrier gates that help signal the train's engineer which fork to take (MINT);

2 RARE brown bundles of molded plastic pipes with a loop on top (MINT);

4 RARE gray hollow plastic barrels (MINT);

2 RARE white square plastic crates with a small loop on top (MINT);

1 RARE small, elevated white building (barrel loader building) with a light brown slanted roof and blue hand crank; the latter allows the child to load the accessory barrels into the train cars; the building can either be positioned straddling the tracks or next to the track (MINT);

2 RARE X shaped gray risers to elevate the barrel loader building (MINT);

1 RARE yellow crane w/red roof, black crane arm, and a black plastic hook on the end that lifts and lowers crates, pipes etc.; the crane can swivel on its base (MINT); and

1 RARE yellow plastic pick-up truck with side window and windshield lithos (MINT).

The box, as might be imagined given its age, displays some wear (e.g. broken plastic handle, 3-4" tear on upper left hand corner of the box, extraneous tape, rubs, 1-2" tear on right upper corner of the box, some creasing, similar tears on lower corners of box, one puncture on back). On a scale from 1-10 with 10 being perfect, I would gauge this box to be an 8.0-8.5/10.0. The box does provide a handy storage container for all of the contents of this set plus it visually provides an inventory of its contents.

This is an AWESOME set and one that would be FANTASTIC to have at Grandma's house when the grandkids come to play. It would keep them entertained for hours.

I will be thoroughly Q-tip cleaning the tracks, station, railroad cars, and all of the accessories prior to sending this set to its new owners. I spend a minimum of 1 1/2 hours cleaning each and every Vintage Fisher Price Play Set that I sell (except those clearly marked in My Rough Room). My sets are IMMACULATE.

Remember, this set contains many small parts and shouldn't be given to a child under 3 years of age or to a child still mouthing their toys. Three, four, and possibly some five year old children may need adult assistance to put together these tracks. I believe children above age five should be able to accomplish this on their own.

This play set weighs @10 lbs. UNWRAPPED and my location is Lafayette, IN (47905). Due to its size and weight, it will probably require an over-sized box.

I will probably be shipping this play set via Fed Ex Home Delivery. I've been finding that Fed Ex Home Delivery is running @33% cheaper than UPS or the USPS, especially for boxes weighing in excess of 5 lbs., traveling longer distances, or requiring an over-sized box. In order to ship Fed Ex Home Delivery, I MUST have a residential address, not a P.O. box, and a contact phone number (e.g. home, cell, or workplace). Another great thing about Fed Ex is that their shipping quote includes up to $100 worth of FREE insurance. Amounts above $100 worth of coverage may be purchased for amounts smaller than the USPS.

Since Bonanza's shipping calculator does not include Fed Ex Home Delivery as a shipping alternative, PLEASE do NOT send payment via PayPal until I can manually obtain the correct shipping quote from Fed Ex's web site. Otherwise, you run the risk of being overcharged by Bonanza's shipping calculator. Naturally, I refund any shipping overpayments in excess of $1.00. However, it makes it much simpler for me if I don't have to issue refunds etc. Due to the size of this set, it's doubtful I'll be able to combine it with other purchases into one shipment. Please contact me before checking out and paying and I'll see what I can do.

Finally, due to the size and weight of this item, I will not be offering any international shipping for this listing.

RARE, Vintage Fisher Price #2320 Magic Train Track Play Set---tons of fun!

Preferred payment is via PayPal. Payment is expected within 5 business days.

The price listed is for the item itself. The total amount due will be the purchase price of the item + the ACTUAL shipping cost to deliver your item to you. All shipping costs or extra fees (in the case of Canadian shipments) are the responsibility of the buyer. I will do everything in my power to find you the cheapest shipping rate—-whether it’s the USPS (First Class, Parcel, or Priority), Fed Ex, or UPS. I DO NOT PAD MY SHIPPING COSTS—-NEVER HAVE AND NEVER WILL! I SHIP WITHIN 48 HOURS OF A CLEARED PAYMENT.

I primarily utilize Fed Ex Home Delivery for items exceeding 5 lbs. in weight, measuring greater than 12 inches in any dimension, or traveling longer distances. I’ve been finding Fed Ex has been running @33% cheaper than the USPS (including Parcel Post) and UPS Ground. FYI, another benefit of using either Fed Ex or UPS is that their quote includes up to $100 worth of FREE insurance. Additional amounts of insurance may be purchased for a nominal fee (that is much less than the USPS). Fed Ex also provides automated tracking updates re: your parcel’s whereabouts directly to your personal e-mail account.

In order to ship Fed Ex (or UPS for that matter), I MUST have a residential or work place address, NOT a P.O. Box number, as well as a home or cell phone. Otherwise, they will not accept the shipping paperwork or transport your item.
Since Bonanza's shipping calculator does NOT offer Fed Ex Home Delivery as a shipping option, PLEASE DO NOT SEND PAYMENT UNTIL I HAVE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO MANUALLY CHECK THESE RATES AND INSERT THEM INTO YOUR INVOICE. Otherwise, the shipping calculator may overcharge you.

Packages traveling to Alaska or Hawaii will be shipped Parcel Post via the USPS. Insurance and delivery confirmation are required.

I’m more than willing to combine multiple purchases into one box whenever it is safe to do so to decrease your shipping costs. Once again, PLEASE wait to check out until I can combine your purchases on ONE INVOICE and can calculate their combined shipping rate via Fed Ex. If you pay for these items separately, I get charged multiple transaction fees by PayPal plus you get over-charged on your shipping. Of course, I will refund you any amount over $1.00 that you've overpaid on shipping. However, it's easier on both of us if you wait until I can send you the correct amount.

I’m more than happy to ship selected play sets to Canada and Australia. Remember that shipping to Australia can be quite expensive so please contact me for a shipping quote before you purchase an item. I will attempt to find the cheapest shipping rate possible. Also, Australian and Canadian customers will be responsible for any brokerage fees, Custom’s duties, or VAT’s imposed by your governments. I am not responsible for these charges. Insurance is required for all international shipments.

Last, but not least, I offer a 10% discount for orders totaling $125.00 or more.

ALL SALES ARE FINAL. NO RETURNS ARE ACCEPTED. I have attempted to bring any noted "imperfections" to your attention prior to your purchasing the item. However, I'm only human. If I have missed something or you have a problem with your purchase, please contact me prior to leaving feedback.
