Vintage Hand Painted Porcelain Brooch Pendant Earrings Daisy
Signed Marina Keagy 1973
Cameo Style Pendant or Brooch
White Daisy Cluster
Clip On Earrings
This is a beautifully detailed large hand painted porcelain brooch/pin or pendant with matching earrings. It is signed by the well known American Artist, Marina Keagy and dated 1973. She is famous for her fine hand painted decorative china. According to her granddaughter, she began china painting in 1964. She attended an art university in Paris, France in the late 1930s and 1940s during WWII. Her first name is acually Ramona, but she went by Marina (her middle name). Her maiden name is Robles and some of her earlier paintings were signed R.R. for Ramona Robles. She was born in Guatemala in 1916 and her family was from Spain. She was a relative of Pedro de Alvarado. She passed away in March of 2008 in Vista, California where she had lived since moving to the United States with her American husband.
This oval brooch features a fine domed centerpiece with an expertly painted floral picture in soft pastel greens, yellows and blues surrounding a cluster of three white daisies with green foliage. Each earring has the same color scheme with a single daisy and set inside a rope design border. The porcelain is set in a high quality antique gold tone or brass metal setting with flowers encircling it.
This lovely set is in excellent vintage condition and shows little if any signs of wear. The brooch/pendant measures 2 1/2 inches long and almost 2 inches wide. The earrings are about an inch in length and 3/4 of an inch wide. The pin back with safety clasp is in good working condition as are the clips on the earrings. The pin does have a slight bend to it, but that doesn't affect the closure in anyway. There is a bail at the top for optional use as a pendant.
This amazing wearable piece of art would make a great addition to your collection of vintage porcelain or as a gift for any flower lover.
