Vintage Lidded Musical German Beer Stein DBGM #76
What a wonderful sentiment for this beautiful stein, in raised relief with lovely coloring.
"First take care of business, then drink and laugh!"
Depicts an indoor scene of men enjoying some good food, drink and company.
My uncle brought this back to the states in the '60's, while he was in the Navy.
Jagerlatein means: Hunter's tall stories!
The message around the bottom is: Erst mach' dein' Sach dann trink' und lach
That translates: First take care of business, then drink and laugh!
Stamped Made in Germany
There are no cracks, chips or crazing. It is in very good condition
As you can see in the photos the lid sits a bit askew, but doesn't affect the overall look.
Stands 8 5/8" tall to rim, 11" tall to top of lid.
Bottom dia. is 5" ~ Top dia. is 3"
I assume the stein is hand painted.
On one of the columns near the hadle is stamped & painted 0.5
Signed/Stamped on the lid DBGM and marked #76.
The tune is Man müßte nochmal zwanzig sein. That roughly translates: Oh to be twenty again!
The tune plays while the stein is lifted and stops when it is set down.
