This is one of the more beautiful little box purses that I have come across. In fact, I have not seen one like it other than those with a lucite lid and they too are very different.
This little purse is made entirely of metal, perhaps brass, yet if it's brass, it does not or has not tarnished. The gold metal has an intricate basket weave design on it covering the entire box, except for the very top which has a solid line going across. It has two 12" chains for the handle. The clasp and the hinges work perfectly. The interior is lined in a gold velvet with a short nap. The velvet on the inside of the lid is spotted, it looks original to the peice, but I doubt it is - I honestly think it's from moisture. It was probably put away and never opened until recently - this may or may not be removed, but if not it does not detract from it. The bottom of the box has four little molded feet. The attachments for the chain handles are intricate in design, yet on the back side of the box the one on the right has a little damage - it is a little rough yet not really visible, but it looks lke the very tip of it was broken off - again not visible (not to me anyway). This is a stunning handbag ( handbox ) with no scratching, and very minor flaws.
