More about this item
This is a beautiful pair of Royal Copley chicken figurines depicting a crowing rooster and a hen. The pair exhibits the vivid colors and finely detailed craftsmanship that set the Royal Copley company apart from the other in the midcentury era. The rooster stands 8” high and is 6.5” from his beak to his tail feathers. He is 3.5” wide. The rooster’s base measures 4” by 3.5”. Mr Rooster is in very good condition and is free of chips and cracks. He has fine age-related crazing but the glaze is clear and glossy. The piece has the usual glazed bottom with dry runners. One of the runners has a nick in it. There is a silver foil Royal Copley sticker still attached and, on the bottom, you will see what looks like an original price sticker. Though, faded, I see a price of 98 cents! Mrs hen stands 7.5” high and is 6” long from her beak to her tail feathers. She is 3.25” wide. Her base measures 3.5” by 3.25”. The hen is in very good condition and is free of chips or cracks. She has fine age-related crazing with the glaze remaining clear and glossy. She has the usual glazed bottom with dry runners seen on Royal Copley pieces. She has a partial silver foil label still attached. If you collect all things chicken-related, these are a must have. Thank you for looking. Item location: B 57
