Vintage School Bell Dinner Hand Held Wood Handle 12 Inches Teachers 7 inch handle Intact Ringer Metal Original Patina Old Dinner Bell Hand Bell This is an old vintage large school bell with a wooden handle. The bell is 12 inches in height and features a base diameter of 5 inches across. I'm not sure what the metal is, a magnet sticks to it, so it can't be brass. It may have had a brass coating. The wooden handle has some very light wear to it and a few marks and imperfections. The wood has a shiny glaze over it and there is some crazing to the glaze. The top of the handle has a cap on it with a hole in the center. It may have hung from a rod at one time. The bell has a great tone sound. This belonged to my parents and I used it when my Mom lived with us so she could ring it if she needed me. I could hear it throughout the house. I don't know where or when they originally got it. I don't know anything about vintage bells so I hope you can tell by looking at it what it is. Any information would be appreciated. The bell itself is in nice condition, there are no chips or cracks. I did not try to clean it because it has a wonderful original finish with a nice old patina with color variations to the metal from age. There are a few stains on the inside as well. It has an unusual shape to the bell, it is smooth from the top to the bottom, there is no ridge at the bottom. I have taken many pictures and you can see the condition and details for yourself. This would make a great addition to anyone’s collection of school bells or a great gift for a favorite teacher to put on his or her desk.
