This is a simple yet elegantly detailed vintage or antique late Victorian era brooch or pin. It features a Sapphire blue oval cabochon glass rhinestone set in a silver tone metal frame. It is a raised filigree open work brooch with a beautiful faceted open backed large clear blue glass stone that is bezel set in a sawtooth or dogtooth setting The stone really sparkles in the light. It measures approximately 1 1/2 inches by 1 inch. It is unsigned. The back has the longer style pin that extends just beyond the old style open C-clasp. The woman it belonged to was born in 1880 so this is quite an old brooch.

The pin is in very good vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs, especially considering its age. I don't know what type of metal it is made from, it is unmarked. I have not polished or cleaned it, it has a lovely old patina that only comes with age and many people prefer that appearance. It reminds me of pewter. The pin on the back is secure and works great.
