Vintage Opal & Diamond Ring

Super Antique Design Ring a Beautiful Ornate Opal & Diamond Ring.
This Wonderful Victorian Style Modern Ring features 3 Fiery Opals each with a delightful play of Fire in Pastel Pinks and Green Colours.
The Central Oval Cut Opal measures approximately 7mms x 5mms. The two additional Opals approximately 4mms in diameter. The ring is Highlighted with 2 Sparkly Natural Diamonds each measuring approximately 3mms in diameter.
The setting of the ring is a Wonderful Ornate Design Reminiscent of Arts & Crafts Jewelry. The ornate head of the ring measures approximately 12mms deep x 21mms wide. The Intricate Designed Head of the ring leads to an ornate carved shank as beautiful as many Antique Victorian Rings. This really is an unusual and lovely Antique Style Ring.
The Ring is Fully Hallmarked for 9ct Gold by the London England Assay Office with date mark circa 1980.
It is good sound condition for an Estate ring with minimal signs of wear, a little rubbing to the central opal but nothing that detracts when worn, the ring simply looks quite lovely.
About Opals
The Opal has been revered since ancient times when the stone was believed to bring Good Fortune,to be a Protective Amulet, Prevent Illness and Disease, and Warn of Poison by changing colour for the wearer.
In Ancient Egypt Cleopatra was believed to use Opal to warn against poison.
Her lover Mark Antony so highly regarded the stone he outlawed a senator who refused to surrender his opal.
In the mid 1800s the sentiment towards Opal changed and it gained a reputation for being unlucky this was all due to a story by novelist Sir Walter Scott who in 1829 published 'Anne of Gerstein'.
One of the characters wore an opal which changed colour according to her mood and when Holy Water was sprinkled on the stone, and she fainted and then died. Opals reputation collapsed however Queen Victoria loved the stone and her sentiments revived interest in this wonderful gemstone.
This is a Superb Ring made from fully hallmarked London England Assay Office for solid 9ct Gold.
A vintage ring it may show some very minor signs of wear nothing that detracts when worn. This has already been taken into account when pricing this lovely ring.
