This is a small wooden box with two hinged lids that appears to be a small coffin. The inside has a soft material and a removable pillow. There holes on both sides of the box where we believe handles may have once been. It is our best guess that this item was once a salesman's sample coffin. But that is just a guess. It has been suggested that this is a pet coffin. However, we are unable to find any with two lids in our searching

We do not know how old the box is. It looks old. Though the little straps that keep the lids from going too far back look new. It appears to be handcrafted. The fabric is soft. It is a little squished in where the feet go because I was feeling around to see how this box was made. The fabric appears to be glued in.  We have searched for another coffin like this one and not found anything remotely similar.

Please note that the hardware on the sides is missing. There are some scuffs here and there due to age. A line on the surface of the bottom half. This is a great unusual piece, not in perfect condition.
