I have been reading Tarot cards for over 20 years now, and I have tried many decks over the years, but so far nothing has been as clear, concise, and comprehensive as my original Rider Waite deck that I started with. I still collect them, though, whenever I come across a hard to find deck or something uniquely striking about the deck. I live in Hawaii, and when I came across this deck in a local shop, I was instantly transfixed by the imagery. When I found out the artwork was hand painted for the deck right here in Hawaii and Self-published by the artist herself, I just had to know more. I contacted Katalin through her website, http://myhawaiiantarot.com/, to find more detailed information and the surprise of all surprises, it turned out that we both live on the Big Island. After making contact through the website, she was more than willing to work with me to schedule a buyer pickup so I could save on shipping, and it was worth it. She is a wonderful person to know and do business with. I wanted this deck at first just because it is the only true Hawaiian Tarot that I have ever seen and to me was unique just in that regard alone. I was a little worried at first about how clear, concise, and comprehensive they would be in a reading when compared to the Rider Waite deck. My worries evaporated, however, as soon as I opened the box and saw what is usually my Significator Card, The Fool, sitting on top of the deck. I felt as if it was meant to be as The Fool is my Significator, and is the card that has always represented me best. I saw immediately how comparable and translatable they are to other decks, and in an actual reading, they are comprehensive and extremely compatible with just about any standard traditional spread that may be used, whether it’s a Three Card Spread, or the ancient Celtic Cross ten card spread, or the seven card spread that some do. I love them! Thanks very much Katalin, for bringing the Mana of both ancient and modern Hawaiian Culture into a beautiful rendition of the Tarot which truly captures the Spiritualism, Aloha, and Akua of Hawaii traditions!
