About me
I remember the first time I learned about sea glass. I was fortunate enough to be vacationing on a beautiful beach in the Caribbean. I walked to the edge of the surf and felt what I thought was a shell graze my ankle. When I leaned over to see the object in question, I was amazed to find a perfectly-frosted green piece of sea glass. Of course, at the time, sea glass was a foreign entity to me. But, having been a life-long lover of learning and all things beautiful, I read book after book about sea glass upon my return. Eventually, what started as a chance encounter with that first piece of sea glass turned into a near obsession (a common occurrence as most sea glass collectors will attest to).
In the years that passed since that trip to the Caribbean, I have combed the beached of Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Italy, Ireland and the United States East Coast in search of sea glass. Although always looking for the ultimate sea glass "prize" of red or yellow, I always find every color and shape to be a treasure when discovered. Each beautiful piece has a history all its own which I find fascinating!
So, after years of accumulating sea glass of all shapes and colors, I learned the art of jewelry making. Having been a ballet and modern dancer as a younger person and accustomed to expressing myself artistically in that capacity, I decided to branch off creatively in a new direction. Thus, making sea glass jewelry became the perfect way to continue to express my need to create.
I hope you enjoy these pieces as much as I do. I am constantly learning new techniques and, therefore, my pieces will evolve along with me. I welcome any questions or requests.
Thank you for visiting Sea Glass Gems. I hope you have a beautiful day filled with the peace and serenity!
