Back in 2006....I just realized this is how long I have been casting thanks to my signature and a date on one of my leaves LOL, anyway my neighbor Judy was making concrete leaf castings for fun and I thought I would experiment with painting them.
I was worried at first they might not look good with paint but after messing around I was happy with my results. I have spent a lot of time learning and playing with the art of casting/painting leaves and over the years my practice has payed off and I hope that the colors I pull together speak for themselves.
Each time a leaf is cast I can hardly wait for them to dry so I can see how it turns out, then comes the paint:) I never know what I will do, it just happens and they are all different!
I also make leaf necklaces and earrings from clay!! They are extremely comfortable and are lightweight and available in every color you or I can think of:)I use nice quality black silky rope style necklace most of the time and occasionally on certain pieces I use a silky piece of black or whatever color ribbon is requested and you simply tie it on yourself at the length you choose, choker style or full length and tie a cute little bow in the back. This way is totally functional and even looks cute in the back with your hair up:) I use sterling silver ear wires on my earrings with cute little chain dangles and leaf charms!! All metal is sterling unless I specify otherwise:) Gold filled is an option too. My newest creations are dragonfly and butterfly sculptures with real leaf impression wings......SO cute!! I'm very excited about my new little adventure in leaf jewelry and winged friends:)
I love this art from nature and I feel like it is a great way to add a little something different to peoples homes, gardens and now jewelry, dragonflies and butterflies:) Plus it is nice to know you can have something that is truly original since the leaf can only be used once!
I am a stay at home mom of two, a 9 year old daughter Ameria and and a 7 year old son Kadin and I have an incredible husband Jeff who I have been with for 17 years, married 10 of them:)! I love to let my babies help me paint......of course for the most part it is the back of the leaf they work on LOL soon they will be doing their own leaves:)
I am so thankful that I am capable of creating something with my hands that other people appreciate:) Thank you for taking the time to read a wee little bit about me:)
All my Art is signed on the back and are completely one of a kind imprints of nature being that the leaf is no longer usable after it has been cast.
