Now you can buy and print labels on Bonanza

Some parts of selling online can feel like “busy work” that takes time and isn’t very fun. For many of us, buying postage is one of those chores. That’s why we’re excited to announce that, starting now, you can buy and print USPS shipping labels without ever leaving Bonanza.

All you need is a standard computer printer to make postage-paid labels in minutes. Just pay for the postage inside Bonanza, print the USPS-approved label, and affix it to your package.

We’ve designed it to be super fast, and super easy - we even mark the order as shipped and and set the tracking number for you. So you can spend less time waiting in line at the post office and more time growing your business.

Where can I find the Bonanza postage-printing feature?

I thought it might be fun to hide it - like an easter egg hunt - but Bill insisted on making it easy to find. (He’s like that.) When you view an order in "Items Sold," you’ll see the new option as “Buy shipping.” It’s located right next to the links you already use to mark items as shipped. (Screen shot below.)

Do I need a special printer to print postage?

No - you can use any standard computer printer and plain paper. Print the label, put it in the upper-right corner of your parcel, then stick it on using packing tape, strong glue, or cooked sticky rice (if you're shipping from ancient China). Just make sure it's stuck on well enough that it won't scrape off or come loose during transit.

Do I get a discount on the postage price?

Yes. Thanks to a productive partnership with our postage provider, the rates offered are up to 15% below retail USPS pricing.

Buy shipping, right from the order notification

Are there fees for printing postage on Bonanza?

Yes. When you buy postage through Bonanza, you’ll also pay a small service fee. The amount will vary, because it includes variable charges like credit card processing rates and other service fees. But we’ll always show you the exact total before you confirm your purchase.

Pro tip: To get the lowest fee, always buy labels using your pre-funded Bonanza postage account.

How can I get the lowest fee, using my pre-funded Bonanza postage account?

You want to avoid credit card fees, and so do we. Nobody benefits from those except the card companies. So it’s nice to know that if you print a lot of postage, you can avoid card fees and save money by pre-funding your Bonanza postage account.

How does that work? Every seller automatically has a postage account. But it's empty until you fund it by choosing the option in the “Buy shipping” form. Then when you print labels, we’ll deduct the price from your Bonanza balance instead of charging your card every time. You save money because you’re not paying a card fee on every label.

And - bonus! - it also speeds your postage-buying experience because we won't ask for your card every time. Win-win.

What happens if I forget to fund my postage account?

If you print postage often, you might enjoy our auto-funding service. When you turn on auto-funding, we’ll charge your card and refill your postage account whenever the balance is low. There’s no fee for turning on the auto-funding service, and it ensures that you'll always get the best rates when you print postage on Bonanza.

Do you support other carriers like UPS and FedEx?

Although the UPS folks are cute in their brown shorts, at this time we only support shipping via the United States Postal Service (USPS). If you print labels often and the feature becomes wildly successful, we hope to add support for other carriers in the future.

Packing like a pro

The process of packing and shiping is an unfortunate business reality (well, unless you’re selling digital goods). But now shipping on Bonanza is a little faster and a lot easier. Give it a try, and see how much time you can save.

    Another “sure fire” Bonz tool which will benefit many sellers. I offer “thanks” to the Bonz team who really thinks a new idea ALL the way through, the pre-funding option is genius! And standing in line in a post office with 1 clerk & 8 folks ahead of you…NOT priceless! Good job team!!

    MORE FEES?? – since I use PayPal to accept payments and pay fees there, I will continue to ship thru them without paying an additional fee to print labels.

    Sorry – another tool that is great for US sellers – but useless to me and my stores. I cannot print postage from any system and have to do it all the hard way all the time.

    Do you have a fee schedule vs fees via pre-funded Bonanza postage account? Since I don’t charge for shipping and handling on my items, I would like to know a little more about this.

    Great question. We can’t build a fee schedule since our back-end costs are variable based on factors that change per transaction. But in general, it could be as much as 60% savings on fees if you use pre-funded, so that’s the way to go whenever possible.

    I am sure, in your child like excitement, you think that this is a great thing. But, I really see no benefit to the seller. Yes, of course, it is great for you…more fees. But, I am interested in putting money into MY pocket…not yours. But, that is how I am.

    Cool is the postage cheaper if paid for online also once postage has been paid and printed does the tracking get automatically submitted because it is always a pain to submit tracking one number at a time that would be of great benefit to me because the numbers on the USPS receipts are way to small to input them correctly on the mark as shipped page. Thank you so much and look forward to all and any improvements in the near future and patiently waiting for a bonanza rewards program like ebay bucks that would bring back return customers especially the ones from the advertising partners for which we pay an arm and leg if a item is sold through them. So everyone request this addition that customers will earn coins for purchasing an item and then use the coins on future purchases.

    Yes, the postage is discounted. Also, the tracking number is automatically submitted for you when you buy the postage on Bonanza – you do not have to copy/paste or type anything in!

    Thanks but no thanks….don’t need any more fees added on to what I already pay out! But then, if sales don’t pick up, I won’t have to worry about it!
    You might think consider giving those who DO use it a 10% discount on shipping costs if they mail it out in 1 business day….maybe more would be interested where it would at least cancel out the extra fee!

    There are many options for printing shipping online. We think ours is a time-saver since it’s integrated right into the Bonanza seller tools, but if you have a different method that works for you then that’s great!

    As always, I have questions.

    When printing the label, will the shipping address automatically be picked up so seller will not have to input?

    Do you have a schedule of fees to be charged and one for postage discounts?

    Does a seller fund the postage account now, or at time of sale to avoid paying credit card fees?

    Does this system allow a seller to print a label for a future date as does Paypal. And if so, when will it be marked shipped- the day it is shipped or the day label is printed.

    At this time, you can’t print a label for a future date like PayPal. And we don’t have a fee schedule since it changes based on the credit card and other variables.

    But yes, everything is automatic – the shipping address is pulled in from the buyer, the item is marked as shipped, and the tracking code is recorded.

    I am so glad you guys added this shipping feature! It will be a great addition and makes it possible for us to be able to offer our clients a better choice of lower priced items. When costs are figured we all need to realize all the costs and are we losing money on selling the item or truly making a profit, even if just a little one?
