Booth overview

A warm welcome to AntAtHome. My name is Antoinette Morkel. I design, assemble and sew all garments from my home based studio in Hermanus, a seaside village near Cape Town. Not your regular nine to fiver, I love working from home, and the freedom it gives me to do so.

The freedom to create comfortable garments, with classic lines, and a nostalgic ‘touch from the past’…
My shop slogan “no two garments are the same” explains the need for individuality and a certain degree of iconoclasm, thereby affording the owner a unique wardrobe winner :)

My reasons for opening a shop has much to do with the realisation that there is a great need for unique fashion clothing. Feminine, comfortable clothing, but with individual nuances. A subtle difference in each and every garment makes us feel special, unique and ‘one of a kind’.

AntAtHome is a one woman show. I make and design all the garments. From cutting out the pattern, assembling the pieces and finally stitching them together, I try not to waste precious silks, chiffons and rare prints, thereby creating new outfits with these fabrics left over from before. In this way, each creation becomes uniquely different, in that “no two garments are ever the same”. I take pride of my creation and treat each piece as if I am going to wear it.

I have always been inspired by the Nouveau era, incorporating the beautiful lines, colours and textures into designs, thereby simultaneously giving stature and necessary subtleness to new creations.

Sewing is a creative Art. As an architect, or artist, would draw or paint, designing clothes is not much different, in that one is able to use the imagination and steely practicality to bring into form something unique, and thereby, losing oneself in the landscape of Imagination…

I have been making clothes for ladies in Cape town for a few years now, but that I am able to sell my designs in my own shop online, to women all over the world is truly a dream come true and for that, I am enormously grateful.

To see customers happy and feeling beautiful wearing my clothes gives great pleasure…

Miscellaneous details

I have a variety of colours and textures in different sizing to choose from for each item listed. This option is available if you click on the “Colour” and “Size” button. Please contact me if you have any questions or requests regarding a “custom made” order.

I design and make all the Garments. The fit of the garment is very important. Figure-moulding darts, angled overlaps and in-laid pleats are examples of techniques that accentuate the areas we wish to show and the little parts of ourselves we wish to hide.

  • Please be sure to take accurate measurements of your bust, waist and hip, as well as trouser, dress or skirt length. Please send me your measurement details at checkout or convo me. I am more than happy to be of help.
  • For your convenience a ‘size chart’ has been enclosed with each listed page.
  • Washing instructions: For longevity of the garment gentle wash by hand in luke warm water.

I wish you many happy moments wearing your unique AntAtHome creation :)
I believe my pieces are one of a kind, and will bring you great enjoyment for many years.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any queries.
