Hello.
I thought the last update I read that Google shopping is no longer charging to have merchandise listings show up for sale on their site….
First, we used to upload our feeds ourselves and it was free…
Second, the sites started having to upload our feeds and it went pay per click.
Third, I thought I read in the community a short while back that Google shopping is free to advertise in again.
What is our correct scenario with Google shopping as sellers now?
Thank you,
Sharon

Hello EmpressDepot,
What a great question!!
Our inaugural advertising partner, in 2008, was Google Shopping.
We were the first marketplace to invest heavily in Google Shopping, and we’ve maintained our leadership in the space by giving our sellers the opportunity to tune their Google Shopping traffic up or down, incurring no fees until your items sell.
Behind the scenes, Bonanza pays for each ad click that brings shoppers to your listings. Our goal is to help you sell your items as fast as possible, and we use your selected max fee to determine how much advertising we can buy on your behalf.
To explore more about how advertising and Google Shopping works on Bonanza, Here are two, of many articles available from our Help pages.

I hate having to jump thru hoops with Google shopping here. I did not need to do anything of the type on Ebay, just list and it usually sold but now with forced Managed Payments, no thanks. Seems here they keep adding traits (after the fact) that I dont have or never filled in necessary for Google and over half of my items are disapproved due to having either no UPC or MPN (of which much of my items were prior to UPC codes (1974) or don’t have a MPN (like my old comic books as an example that have an ISSUE but that’s not a MPN as issues duplicate between character subjects of the comic) Issue xx of batman is not the same as issue xx of spiderman or whoever the comic title is about.
I used the identifier exists thingy in these fields but apparently GOOGLE Don’t like that either for my items so they are just in limbo in my booth and unknown to Google. Like I said, never needed to do anything special on Ebay to get it shown but seems Google and Bonz just point fingers at each other and the seller suffers in the end with little or no sales.
Google needs to realize that not all the square pegs fit nicely into the round holes, especially with old items, and that title keywords need to be considered for items that dont fit the program.

Sounds right, Empress Depot. Last I’d read, Google was not charging for the service. I did not read there was a stipulation that small retailers were the only recipients of the move, making large retailers [or, platforms as the case may be] continue paying for the service.

I learned from a member on here a while back that if you just title you pics before listing, it will automatically show up on Google shopping no matter what site you are using.

Google Shopping enables users to view product information from the sellers that is updated on a regular basis by sellers. Since this product information comes directly from the seller, this means we’re able to show the current prices, latest offers and current product availability.

I usually fill in the MPN with my item’s inventory number. If it falls off it’s not my fault. Then I fill in the SKU with the same number. I have just gotten on so I have not listed everything yet, but I can see that the form needs a little more work. Less complicated than Etsy or eBay, though.

Remember these tips:
- Use links to other sources to support your opinions
- Use examples where possible
- Put yourself in the inquirers shoes: what extra info would be helpful?
Should I post a comment or an answer?
You can only post one answer, so make it count. Maybe your reply is more fitting as a comment instead?
Post an answer for:
- Replies that directly and specifically answer the original question
Post a comment for:
- "Thanks," "Me too," "I agree," or "Works for me" types of replies
- When you would like the original poster to provide more details
- When you have more to add to someone else's question or answer
