A bit gloomy and cool day today.

Long day of cleaning two homes.

FOUND MONEY: I was adding more cleaning rags to my bag and I found a check from the middle of April for a cleaning. YEAH. (This client calls randomly for cleaning, so it’s easy to loose track)
Then, I got a call from my Florida people and they are back early this year to the summer home. Start cleaning there next week and this is a good job. YEAH!

It’s suppose to rain tomorrow. If it doesn’t, I plan on going to finish weeding a clients garden.
I need to see if I can get the rider mower repaired. I checked the internet and it looks like it is the carburetor that is stuck. SO, I am going to give it try and hope that I can fix the sucker.

I will figure out a phrase sometime tomorrow.

I bought myself a Mother’s Day present yesterday at Aldi’s – a funky little chain grocery store with lots of house brands,
good prices and “bring your own bags.”

They had phalaenopsis orchids in full bloom for $9.99. That’s fantastic price.

I bought 3: 1 white, one pink and 1 deep wine red and white speckled.

You would think, at those prices (about 1/2 to 1/3 prices anywhere else for the very same plants, that they were inferior quality, or so force-bloomed that they would promptly die in a house, rather than green house. Not so. Extremely hardy and re-bloom every year. Not so.

I did have a bad year this past fall/winter with the orchids I had cultivated for several years. Since I was in hospital and rehab center for over 4 months, my stock were badly neglected – as in TOTALLY neglected. Many of them died. Wonder I didn’t get turned in to the Department of Agriculture, for plant abuse! One of the survivors is in full bloom now, too.

Anyway, they are on my kitchen table in front of a sunny window, happy as can be.

And me, too – I’m also happy as can be.

Had an adventure yesterday. My friend on the fire dept. noticed some ditch burning going on and suggested we stand by ‘just in case’. We started by squirting water on some dry weeds so it wouldn’t spread. We finished with one side of the fence and because of the way the road is it takes about 10 minutes to get to the turn around and back to town. As we were coming back into town we could see that the fire had spread to a TREE and by the the time we got to the tree it had spread 15 – 20’ up the tree! A very old dry tree with tons of leaf litter stuck everywhere, which is next to other trees that eventually lead to a house (YIKES!). And now an adjacent tree was burning too…at that point I was seriously considering calling for additional resources as we were in a type 5 brush truck with only 350 gallons of water. We squirted judiciously until no more flames were showing and the water was just about gone when we looked further down the street a small foot bridge over the ditch was on fire! We used our last few gallons to put those flames out, then hurried back to the station and got our type one engine with a thousand gallon tank and the ability to hook a hydrant. The flames had not reignited when we returned(Thank goodness)and we soaked everything down really well to cool and make sure nothing would flare up. Later back at the station a neighbor said that he had seen the trees burning and didn’t think we would be able to get it out especially if the fire had moved to the interior of the trees (would have required felling the tree). I think we need to ban old guys from burning ditches with flame throwing propane burners! By being observant and conscientious my friend saved the day and a house as well!

ZORA NEALE HURSTON: American novelist, short story writer, folklorist, and anthropologist AND
I am using her quote for our game phrase this week. :-D

Wet and rainy all day.
I was hoping to do a few hours of weeding at my clients home so that I can get that off my list to do’s for now.

I just received Cletus’s supplement for his “pee prevention”. It’s cranberry d-mannose and it’s suppose to help dissolve and prevent crystals. The tablets are large and I just cut it in half.
OH MINE, Cletus just ate it without grounding it, covering up in wet food. YEAH! Something easy.

Carolyn,
ALDI does have some neat items other than food that comes in.
Even Walmart and Home Depot have orchids and every so often, I see an odd one. One with extra small flowers, a strange color combo, strange shapes BUT I don’t buy them. I worry about the cats because they think they can have, play or eat anything.
Years ago, I had a hanging shelf unit in front of the windows with scheffalera’s, spider plants, violets and such. I “borrowed” 2 white leaf violets and got those started and they were becoming very nice plants. THEN, I was left with 3 cats / one of them pregnant. Then it became an addition 7 cats in my family and there was a total of 13 cats. Some of them LOVED that shelving unit and it collapsed and killed my plants. They never came back after potting them because the cats thought you potty in them. The End.

Charlotte, my day doesn’t begin to compare to yours.
I’d say you joined in with saving fires in the area.
Mine was more like Carolyn’s where Bob and I bought a Calla Lily for Bob’s Mother for Mother’s Day. Not nearly as good a deal but a very pretty yellow one with several blooms and buds about ready to open. Our purchase was at Sam’s Club.

It’s gloomy, wet/dampness and a bit cold.
I guess I won’t be going outside unless it warms up and dries off the grass.

Need to start getting items for sale for eBay.

Back to work I go.

Another gloomy and damp day. Not sure when I will work on the lawnmower today. Tomorrow, I planned on getting the rest of the weeding done at my clients home.

Couldn’t work on clothing to get it ready for listing. The cats insists on laying all around me and my staging area. But I did wire a couple of new pendulums. I had some crystals and stones that I have pictures and descriptions, but no stones. While pulling gemstone beads, I found the missing stones laying in my beads as I was going through the drawers. There still is a few more missing items. Maybe I need to emptied each drawer and see if they are hidden among the beads. I did find extra charms that should of been in a tower unit.

I should of had more done, but those cats!

Rutilated definition, containing fine, embedded needles of rutile. We had necklace with rutilated quartz.

Bette, aliens beam your stuff up when you are not looking and beam it back down to other locations.

Buying plants and flowers is a great day too, Joyce, I have to restrain myself whenever we go past a garden center!

Thinking and praying for all our dear friends that haven’t posted recently.

Hope it’s a
for all the wonderful Mother’s out there

Carolyn, surprising that your list of favorite words includes 2 I use frequently on my WFC lists.
Both tawdry and rosary show up on my listrs regulary.
rutilated is a new word to me.
My experience learning something new today.

Em, love the muah post. Cute kitty

I know all about cats being able to prevent me from doing stuff.
Often just a single cat in my lap keeps me from getting up to do something useful. I just hate disturbing them when they are so comfortable.

Think I’ll go exercise a while.
No cat here right now preventing me from exercising.

First word I see and unusual for my weekly exercise is quandary
That’s a free one for anyone that cares to exercise.

Think I’ll e-mail Kathy and see if she might exercise this week even if she isn’t on Bonanza any longer.

Emily, love the kitty video.

My cats did NOTHING for me for Mother’s Day.
The ungrateful kids.

Yesterday I was able to do some weeding of my gardens and then the rain started in. Big storms during the night and I see some of my driveway is down the road. I guess I will need to get the wheel barrel out. BUT it’s raining again.

Finally have an appointment with the septic guy to pump out the septic next week. One more thing off my lists to do.

Another call in cleaning for this week.

My furry kids did nothing for me either, Bette.
However, they did seem a bit more loving following me around all day and/or wanting in my lap on the minute I sat down. Problem? I didn’t stay seated long enough for them to show me their real affections. It was a busy day yesterday.

We have a showing again tomorrow.
I do hope an offer is made soon.
Bob has no desire to be mowing the grass here once we get moved.

Charlotte, nice Mother’s Day wishes for those of us with furbabies.
They are a joy in spite of their many needs. Gotta loveum.

Peeps came to see our house last evening and again this afternoon. So far no buyer but one day the right person will come and become the new owner. Either that or Bob and I will have a getaway only 90 minutes door to door. LOL They say be patient and I am.

My WFC list has no personal challenge this week. I do realize how much I like the letters D and L so find myself wishing there was more than one e of each.

Stopping in to let everyone know Kathy of VintageSpecialties
has sent me her list and I forwarded on to Bette.
I was in touch with her Saturday and sent her our game phrase.
Shw was saddened when I told of Robin’s passing and she joins us in support we can give Scott.

Anyway you’ll see Kathy on our players list.
Her prizes are still available if the time should come a weekly winner should opt for one of her prizes.

Kathy tells me she is preparing to list on ecrater
and is hoping Bette is still agreeable to help walk her through the ecrater process.

Good night for Tuesday.
See you kids tomorrow.

My list is sent.
I got out this morning and walked 1 1/2 miles.
My diet is i8ncluding far less carbohydrates than usual for me. Vegies are my friends. Gotta love those colored peppers. They are so crunchy crisp and juicy. My cuces are opretty good, too. And, oh, the cherry tomatoes and button mushrooms. I hope t eat vegies with cottage cheese and meat avoiding most starches and going easy on fruits. I’ve put on about 7 pounds and better get hold of myself or have to start buying larger clothes.

Happy Wednesday

Word Lists are due TONIGHT.

Carolyn, I have yours.
I goofed and your name should be up there instead of Joyce.
Then Joyce sent Kathy’s word list and I posted Joyce and Kathy as being received and
I am becoming more blonde.

I saw Toupee Tom outside and then I saw that he changed his toupee. Then I notice that this is not Toupee but a younger white with gray spots and funny toupee. This cat found the left over food from Toupee Tom and was eating it. A little more friendlier that Toupee (didn’t hiss) but very skittish. I saw if flying to the neighbors farm.
