Autographed Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. Photograph

An inscribed and matted b/w still photograph of Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. (1909-2000) from the 1941 film "The Corsican Brothers".

Inscription reads: "To Harold Merry - with most grateful thanks for your fine letter and the best wishes to you from Douglas Fairbanks   This picture is from the Corsican Brothers' 1940-'41 ----> 1978".

Handwritten on the verso side is: "Douglas Fairbanks Jr. in the dual starring role of the Edward Small production 'The Corsican Brothers' opening Loew's State & Grauman's Chinese Jan 15    3x8". It also has stamped "RECEIVED EXAMINER REFERENCE LIBRARY   JAN 11 1942".

This particular photo has contrast inking in the hat, collar and sword; and pre-inscription must have been used to produce the included fragment of newspaper ad for the movie at the time it was released. It also is stamped "JAN 11 1942". The fragment would be from the Los Angeles Examiner, which became known as the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner since 1962.
