This medal set is the former property of the late LCDR Rudy Kraus who led not one but two Naval fighter squadrons in the 1960's aboard carriers including the Roosevelt. These were earned during his time in high school then college although I think he was in some kind of prep program and was going in the Navy all along. They include some NAATO medals, a Boston Athletic Conference and a large Naval Air Training Athletic Conference and I have never seen the like of any of them before. Two of the silver are sterling, the other likely pewter. The 1944 100 yd. freestyle is vermeil (gold plated over silver), the '49 NAATO gold one with ribbon is gold-filled and the '49 NAATO with ribbon sterling.
