Description

Presenting a 19th Century Sterling Silver made in Paris- France between 1857 and 1897 by master SilverSmith Emile Puiforcat.

The Hallmark is Minerva 1-1st title § 1838 -1911 § Paris. Standard Hallmark for 950/1000 F

The Makers Mark is for 'Maître Orfèvre' Emile Puiforcat and shows the 2 initials E and F separated by an open penknife. I have unfortunately not been able to photograph the Makers mark due its location but it is very well visible with a magnifier

Emile Puiforcat worked from 1857 to 1897 and then was succeeded by his son. His workshop was on 18 Rue Chapon in Paris

The sifter has an overall length of 16 cm ( 6.4 in) and the diameter is 5.2 cm ( 2.1 in.) and total weight of  39 grams.

It is in pristine condition and may still be used today. Will give a beautiful  pattern when sifting sugar.
