¿QUÉ ES LA YERBA MATE?
Yerba Mate en sentido estricto “es el producto formado exclusivamente a partir de hojas, gajos tiernos, pecíolos y pedúnculos del árbol Ilex paraguariensis parcialmente deshidratados y triturados”.
Es un ingrediente completamente natural que se obtiene a través del procesamiento de las hojas del árbol “Ilex paraguariensis”, de forma totalmente ecológica, cuya calidad depende directamente de la calidad de sus hojas y procesamiento; y que no recibe ningún tratamiento químico en ninguna etapa de su producción y procesamiento.
Tiene un sabor ligeramente amargo con un sabor terroso.
La yerba mate se usa para preparar una bebida fría llamada terere. El terere es una bebida milenaria a base de yerba mate, agua y mucho hielo. En Paraguay, el tereré se bebe a cualquier hora -día y noche- pero por la mañana se le agregan hierbas silvestres refrescantes y medicinales, que en lengua guaraní se conocen como pohã ro'ysã.
