DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE

 MOVIE POSTER

ITALIAN

 MEASURES 27 x 40 inches or 69 x 101 cm

This watercolor illustration, created for a European re-release ten years after the film was made, is a rare artifact of 1940s Hollywood marketing. They don't make them like this anymore--the poster or the movie. The glossy MGM version starred Ingrid Bergman, tormented by Dr. Jekyll's dark half, Mr. Hyde. In a post-modern coup de grace, David Lynch appropriated this film as the subtext for Blue Velvet, in which Bergman's daughter Isabella Rosselini portrayed a woman tormented by Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper).
