Exquisite and Rare 1988 Gladys Paquin "Sratyu'we"  Zuni / Laguna Pueblo Native American Pottery Jar 9"W x 9"H

Gladys "Sratyu'we" Paquin (1936-2020 ), is of mixed Zuni and Laguna ancestry. She was born in Rehoboth, New Mexico. Her father was from the Zuni Pueblo and her mother was from the Laguna Pueblo.

She was raised at Santa Ana Pueblo and as an adult moved to her mother's reservation of Laguna Pueblo. Her teacher was her Santa Ana stepmother, and, as a result, her pottery shapes are more akin to those of Santa Ana than those of Laguna. Her designs favor neither pueblo; rather they are creations of her own. Gladys Paquin taught her sons Danny and Andrew Padilla as well as Max Early and Myron Sarracino in the art of pottery making.
