This is a puzzling figurine depicting a shirtless elderly man leaning against a tree with his bare feet in a shallow pond or river. Beside him is a basket holding his catch. There is a larger version (9.5") of this figurine (slightly different configuration of branches, but the same fisherman and obviously made by the same company) that has a paper tag marked ARNART and Japan. The larger version has the same fineness in the mold but roughness in finishing. According to my research, Arnart was a US company from 1953 - 2001 that imported china from Japan, Germany, and England. The only mark on this piece is a printed mark that I couldn't find in any references.

CONDITION: This figurine is in good condition. There are several rough spots (on the surface of the water and brim of the hat), but these seem to be in the mold rather than chips.
SIZE: This piece is about 4 1/2" wide and 6 3/4" tall.

BACKGROUND: This is one of a number of things I recently purchased from a retired teacher neighbor before she moved away from our 55 and over community to live with her son. In addition to things she inherited and her own things, she had some interesting gifts from students and things she collected for classroom projects. I'll be listing more of these over the next several weeks.

WHY BUY FROM WANDERING CREEK? I've been selling online for 25 years and guarantee that the information in my listings is accurate and that I will get your item in the mail very quickly. I accept returns for any reason but do not do partial refunds. #26242
