This company was founded by George Zoltan Lefton in 1940 as a Chicago-based importer/distributor business.  Produced in Japan, products included cookie jars, figurines, teapots, planters, banks, wall pockets and many more items.  This middle-sized vintage LEFTON piggy bank is in good condition but due to age and use three of the small flowers have small chips on them.  There are no chips nor cracks on the body of the bank but there is crazing.  Multi-colors on a body of beige make the bank appear iridescent. Sculptured pink and blue flowers and green leaves add to the charm of the bank as do the large facial features - black eyes, pink snout, mouth, and cheeks.  As was the custom,  the banks are marked with a number on the bottom; this bank's number is 28/4. This bank should be be collected rather than used due to its delicacy.

The measurements are:  8 inches long, 4 3/4 inches wide, and 5 1/2 inches tall.
