The Ping A-BLADE Putter - 85020 circa. 1968
The material Karsten Solheim chose for his earliest models - Manganese Bronze - helped define the PING putter. Chosen for its feel and quality attributes, it tarnishes with age to create a distinctive look that symbolizes confidence and trust. These putters are offered with a durable 'baked' satin finish that is resistant to the scratches that occur with normal use.

From heel-toe weighting with a lower center of gravity, to feel and optics, Ping putters offer players a range of styles to complement their own putting styles.

The scalloped edges that you find on the Ping A-BLADE are what create the perimeter weighting and what this does is give your putter more forgiveness. So, if you hit the ball a bit more on the heel or toe of the putter it will keep the face from turning and keep your putt straight and on target.

Soon after their inception, a young pro named George Archer won the Masters using this putter and led to the eventual rise to PING being the putter used by over 60% of golfers!

Made from a manganese bronze the Ping A-BLADE putter has a soft feel that transfers beautifully into the hands of the player making for not only a smoother putt but also a more enjoyable golf experience.

These putters are part of an incredible family of putters that come in a number of different design and material options that have kept players buying them up until today!

The quality and effectiveness of these putters is spoken for in the fact that they have existed for almost 50 years and are still available today in almost the same exact design!

Overall the Ping A-BLADE putter is a great putter and we would definitely recommend it for its game improvement capabilities, the feel of the club and its proven track record.

About The Manufacturer

Engineer and inventor Karsten Solheim got his start as an engineer working for GE in Ithaca, New York. His passion for the game set him on a journey to create a better putter. At the time he thought he was simply building it for his own personal use, but in 1959, Karsten’s ongoing garage experiments yielded an innovative putter he called 1A design. This putter had very distinctive design qualities, among them, a unique tone at impact, a sound that would echo throughout the game for generations to come…“Ping.” The Anser putter began a long and proud history of truly innovative equipment design throughout Ping’s entire product line (ultimately resulting in over 400 patents) that has set Ping at the top of the list of golf design and manufacturing companies. The company is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. Karsten Solheim has passed away and his son John has taken the helm.

Review: "While practicing shots at the range, I looked down and saw an old putter head lying in the grass. It was tarnished very dark brown and the hosel was bent.

I took it home, cleaned it up, straightened the bent hosel, shafted it with a spare steel shaft, used a new Winn oversize grip and ........ the result is the best putter I have ever used.

Despite not having a sight line on the head, I make more putts with this putter than any other. It has to be that the weight of the putter head is perfectly balanced for my stroke."
