This is a set of seven hand-carved napkin rings that I was told are from the Philippines. I'm sure originally there were eight in the set and one became lost or broken. Because each bird is individually hand crafted they are one-of-a-kind unique birds. The carvings are beautifully done; some are fairly thick rings, some are narrower rings. There are a variety of different birds done in a mixture of lighter and darker woods, some of the wood has spotting (almost like water spots, you can see in the close up photography) but I think those are original. The wood is fairly light weight.

I'm not sure of the types of birds, but they could be from the following list of birds common to the Phillipines; the Philippine Duck, the Palawan (Pheasant), the Bush Hen, Scrub Fowl, Buttonquail or Jungle Fowl. I'm sure the bird watchers out there will know what these represent. As a bonus I am adding a pair of wood Kangaroo napkin rings to the group (not pictured but in great condition).

Whether you use these for entertaining or just display them around the house as I did with the flower in the center, they are a great set. They would look lovely in shadow boxes with dried flowers or added to a wreath for that extra oomph! Great for craftsy people. The condition is very good with no chips or cracks. They vary in length but measure approximately 4 inches to 5 inches in length and 2 1/2 to 3 inches in height. What a great addition to your table. Remember that wood is traditionally the 5th Wedding Anniversary gift. This would be a nice little extra bonus gift.
