• Condition: The tankard is free of chips, cracks, crazing, fleabites and repairs. There are no notable production flaws on the interior or exterior. There are no notable scratches or marks from use. The interior is exceptionally clean with no residue or mineral deposits. The base has slight shelf wear as expected. The piece has nice resonance when tinged for it's shape.
The hand painted decor is fantastic covering the entire piece with great color use and detail. There is just a hint of wear in the paint at the edge of the base, which is easy to miss without close inspection. There are no other marks, scratches or wear in the paint. The rim is trimmed in gold which is complete but has light wear and marks as seen in the photos. The piece is signed "E Gilman" below the handle.
The bottom is marked with Porcelaine Limousine's "PL" over "Limoges" over "France" in green, mark 1. Porcelaine Limousine was active from 1906 to 1938. Mark 1 is generally considered an earlier mark. It's a stunning piece and will make a fantastic addition to a Limoges collection or on it's own.
