Wonderful hard to find 1980 Maxell 'Pocketbox' match box with wood matches. A very clever design . . . classic!

Here is a great find.  Maxell tapes were the premium cassette tape during the heyday of the tape deck. This vintage match box was a clever advertising giveaway that promoted the Maxell UDXLII and UDXLI C90 premium cassette tapes. We remember using these! The box design features imagery of the tapes, one each on the front and back of the box, along with the Maxell logos and tag lines. The side of the box includes the clever slogan: The perfect match for any deck. The striker side of the box includes the text: Pocketbox TM, Diamond Match Div. Newark, N. J.

It is printed in black and blue inks and has both gold and silver stamped foil. The box is not full of wood matchsticks, as the striker shows wear so a few were used.

Wow! This is a fantastic vintage advertising match box for any match, matchbook or music ephemera collector.
