DESCRIPTION:
This antique music stand was originally designed by L.W. Noyes of Iowa for the Chicago firm Giffen & Giffen. It was designed to display heavy or thick books, usually dictionaries, religious texts, or other large reference materials. The wooden portion of the stand was originally in 2 pieces and was made to hold family Bibles and books. At some point in this piece's 100-year history, the top portion was replaced with the music stand in this listing.

These were originally sold as an elegant luxury for educated persons, starting at $5. It measures 42" high, 19" wide, and approximately 22” deep (at the legs).
