The bright blue color of the fine-textured foliage is intensified by the cool winter temperatures. Creates excellent texture and color contrast when mixed with dark green foliaged plants. Prefers a well drained soil. Full sun. Evergreen.
Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. As a groundcover, space plants 5 to 7 ft. apart, (closer for faster coverage). Control weeds with mulch until the plants cover the area.
This easy-to-grow evergreen groundcover transforms into bluish green foliage in spring but turns plum purple in winter. Ideally used as a groundcover, foundation plant, and cascading over walls.
Care: This low-maintenance, evergreen needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Prune once or twice a year around the edges in order to keep the middle of the plant full.
Arms radiate handsomely and foliage is set densely on this Pfitzer type conifer. Horizontal in youthful habit Angelica Blue will form a handsome vase-shaped shrub over multiple years. And the winter color is interesting and offers great possibility for contrast; as days shorten and grow colder the foliage darkens to deep battleship gray with a dusky purple overlay. Angelica Blue is wonderful all-the-year round.
