The Square Plate with cow design is produced at the Splashy art, pottery and tile studio in Horotiu, New Zealand. 

 Splashy artists are given the creative freedom to come up with their own designs  and this is reflected in the vibrant and colourful character of the pieces.

Splashy uses a unique paint formulation that is made according to their secret recipe. This produces the distinctively bright colours of Splashy products. 

The paint is then applied by hand to the Large Triangle Plate, which also undergoes three blasting processes.

 This gives Splashy products their durability, making them dishwasher and microwave safe.

How the Splashy Plate is made:

• Soft clay is placed into a plate mould.
• As the clay hardens it is lightly fettled by a damp sponge.
• The clay becomes ‘greenware’ when it has set enough to be handled.
• The greenware is blasted in a bisque kiln at 900 degrees Celsius for about six to seven hours.
