Causes of a bad membrane switch can include wear and tear over time, accidental damage, water damage or failure of the electronic components. Eventually the contacts can deteriorate resulting in incorrect or incomplete signaling.

Symptoms of a bad membrane switch include:

• Buttons or touch points no longer illuminating or responding as intended
• Difficulty selecting functions like bake, broil or convection modes
• Issues with setting or changing the oven temperature
• Not being able to activate timers or other electronic controls
• The control panel displaying error codes or malfunctioning unexpectedly
