September 1945 Vintage US Turbine Electric Tanker Ships Beat Subs Article from Popular Mechanics Magazine. Article spans page 83 through page 87, then continues onto page 148 (NOTE page 148 is a copy of the original page - all the rest of the pages are the originals from the 1945 magazine).

The article explains about new speedy tankers for the US military acting as fast replenishing supply "floating bases" that supported the military's ship squadrons in the western Pacific so that they could stay at sea as long as needed without having to return to port for supplies. There are some great photos in this article, including one showing rows of P-51 Mustang airplanes on a tanker.

This original magazine article is age colored and has holes where the magazine was stapled together. It is also a little wrinkled. There are no tears in the pages. In addition, the last page of the article is a copy of the original page 148.

Page overall dimensions approx 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches.
